Updates:
- August 4th meeting follow-up
- Vanessa followed up on the oncology stewardship grant opportunity presented by Lydia at the August 4 meeting. A letter of collaboration was distributed with the September meeting materials. Based on the August discussion, POQC will move forward with submitting a letter of collaboration in support of the project. Members were invited to consider signing the letter as a POQC representative; signing the letter would not obligate the member to participate in the project if funded.
Next Step: Pat volunteered to sign the letter on behalf of POQC. Vanessa will reach out.
- Vanessa provided a follow-up on the draft group agreements reviewed at the August meeting. Member feedback from that discussion is being incorporated into revised language by the Recruitment and Retention Workgroup. The agreements are intended to be living agreements that can continue to be revisited and adjusted after adoption.
- MOQC has reached out to MSHIElD, a fellow CQI focused on reducing gaps and challenges in healthcare, to explore facilitated learning opportunities for POQC related to social identities and emotional labor. The goal is to create additional space for discussion, build shared understanding, and strengthen how members support one another within the group. Planning is still in progress, with an initial session anticipated for November and a second session in December. Additional details will be shared as they are developed.
- Ask Keli about POQC meeting document – governance on POQC (group agreement)
- Med Onc Regional Meetings and Gyn Onc Biannual (schedule below)
- Ashley reviewed the upcoming fall Medical Oncology Regional Meetings and Gynecologic Oncology Biannual Meeting schedule. POQC members are welcome and encouraged to attend these meetings, which provide opportunities to review regional or statewide data, hear project updates, and connect with healthcare team members and each other.
- POQC members are compensated for participation in MOQC meetings. Members receive $40 per hour for meeting participation and mileage reimbursement at $0.76 per mile. Members traveling more than two hours may also request hotel accommodations when appropriate.

- Gynecologic Oncology Biannual Meeting – Voice of the Patient/Caregivers
- Vanessa shared an opportunity for a POQC member attending the upcoming Gynecologic Oncology Biannual Meeting to participate in the approximately 10-minute POQC portion of the agenda. The member would provide brief POQC updates and, if comfortable, share lived experience related to the meeting’s keynote topic, Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS), which is about the steps healthcare teams take to make home recovery easier after discharge.
Outcome/Next Step: Contact Vanessa if interested.
- Ovarian Cancer Research: Volunteer Patient Advocate Opportunity
- Vanessa shared an external opportunity for an individual with lived experience of ovarian cancer to serve as a patient advocate for a proposed clinical trial involving women with newly diagnosed advanced ovarian cancer receiving chemotherapy before surgery.
- The research team is seeking a patient advocate to provide feedback on patient-centered outcomes, study requirements and questionnaires, consent and recruitment materials, and information provided to patients and families.
- This opportunity is independent of MOQC and POQC. Participation would be voluntary and would not qualify as POQC/MOQC paid time. Members were invited to express interest or share the opportunity with someone who may be an appropriate fit.
- NutriVP process and patient/caregiver-facing letter
- The Nutrition Value Pathways Program is working to make it easier for people to get food and nutrition support through their healthcare and insurance benefits. The program helps connect patients, caregivers, healthcare providers, health plans, and community food organizations so that people with health conditions can access services such as healthy food packages, produce vouchers, or medically tailored meals when they qualify. The goal is to improve health by making nutrition support easier to find, understand, and use.

- 1-sheet: Patient/Caregiver-facing 1-pager
Next Step: If interested, please review 1-sheet and provide any edits or feedback to Ashley (review on smart phone, tablet, computer if possible for differences) – deadline September 30
- Moving October 27 meeting à November 10 (due to regionals)
- The POQC meeting on October 27 will be moved to November 10 to reduce scheduling conflicts during the busy October meeting period.
- The POQC Post
- Vanessa provided a brief update on The POQC Post. The site will shift to a blog-style information sharing website. More details will be shared down the line.
