Patient received the first chemo treatment as an inpatient. Subsequent treatments were done in the office.
Is there a problem abstracting this patient?
@smoul Hi Shelly, thanks for this great question! There is no problem with abstracting a patient who received their first chemo treatment as an inpatient. Something to consider is whether or not it was a provider within your practice who ordered the treatment while the patient was hospitalized. If it was one of your providers, you would proceed by choosing practice has primary responsibility for initial course of care (on the practice encounter page in MOQCLink). If the first treatment while inpatient was ordered and managed by a provider outside of your practice, and then the patient transferred care to a provider within your practice, you would choose patient transferred during the initial course of treatment (on the practice encounter page in MOQCLink).
I hope this helps! Let us know if you have any further questions on this.
