If a patient is given a 1 time dose of Heparin during their biopsy, then started on chemo 2 weeks later would this qualify as the patient having an anticoagulant concurrently with chemotherapy?

Good morning Vanessa, thank you for the great question!

We would not consider a one time dose of heparin to qualify as the patient receiving anticoagulant concurrently with chemotherapy.

For this question, we are looking for a longer term use of anticoagulation that is prescribed within 30 days of starting neoadjuvant chemo and would continue on throughout chemotherapy to prevent blood clots.
